Fees

At the first consultation we look at your situation, discuss the possible ways forward, how the case might unfold and the financial side. A first meeting usually lasts 60–90 minutes – enough time to gather the key facts, propose a strategy and give you a clear, honest quote. Depending on what suits you, we offer both in-person meetings, in full confidence, and online meetings.

The fee for handling a case is always set individually – after a close analysis of the legal problem you bring to us. It depends on, among other things, how complex and advanced the case is, how long it is expected to run and the scope of work involved.

Every case takes a different amount of work, and our clients' needs and expectations differ too. A fee may therefore cover anything from preparation for a police interview or a written legal opinion to a full defence in criminal proceedings or representing a victim.

The fee reflects not only the day-to-day work but also our expert knowledge and experience in criminal matters. In every case we try to match the offer to the nature of the case and the client's means.

What affects the fee

  • how complex the case is and how long the proceedings are likely to take
  • the hours needed to prepare and run the case
  • in civil cases – the value of the claim
  • the scope of work entrusted to us
  • the number of cases handed to the firm

Where several cases are entrusted to us, the fee can be approached individually, and in particularly justified cases it can be paid in instalments.

Billing options

  • a flat fee for the whole case
  • an hourly rate
  • a monthly retainer – for ongoing business support

Once we have put a fee to you, we give you time to decide calmly. The agreement is usually signed at the next meeting, though many clients choose to start straight away.
